As someone aspiring to publish his own book by the end of the year, I would really be more than interested in learning the best tips that a self-publisher should follow.
At the end of the day, why not write the short guide myself, since this is advice that every self-publisher wished he had before putting his work out there.
So let’s cut to the chase.
- The first impression of your book isn’t everything — it’s 90% of the work. It’s what will make the consumer take a moment and read your description.
- Going the DIY route for the cover isn’t profitable. Invest your money in design firms and professionals.
- The first impression, however, is a two-part series: the design and the description. Only a captivating description will lead the reader right to the checkout.
- Research the market not only before but also during the process. Don’t start or even continue writing a book if you don’t understand where you are going with it.
- Make sure that you invest a similar amount of money and effort in editing. If you hire an editor, try to collaborate with someone that has a great experience.
